WLS radio host and former gubernatorial candidate, Dan Proft, will emcee. In addition a few candidates that are opposed in the primary will speak. Community members, supporters and friends are invited to line up at the Home Depot in Shorewood, near the intersection of Route 59 and Black Road, beginning at 1 p.m. The Patriot Guard Riders will begin the welcome at 1:30 p.m. and escort Muentnich from Black Road, west to River Road,......south to Jefferson Street, east to Route 59 and will end at Mark’s on 59 in Shorewood.

All are welcome to then attend an open house in Muentnich’s honor at Mark’s on 59 from 2-4 p.m. Muentnichjoined the Marines in February of 2010. He departed for Afghanistan in May of 2011, and returned to the U.S. this past November after surviving two roadside bomb attacks.See More

JOLIET TEA PARTY …. YEAR IN REVIEW - WOW !!!

It’s amazing that another year has gone by! 2010 was another very busy for all of us here in Will County. Joliet Tea Party held some incredible events, fought some intense battles, and won some great victories. Our partnership with the Will County Tea Party Alliance also provided some great opportunities to make a further difference.

Last year began with a lot of excitement about the primary races. We were waiting to see who our Senator and Congressional candidates would be. In January we held a large event to show our support for conservative candidate Patrick Hughes for Senate.

In February, conservative Adam Kinzinger won the primary for the 11th Congressional district. Now we had a candidate that we could all unite behind. We had our first great victory of 2010! We then co-sponsored a “Done With Debbie” rally that featured Adam Kinzinger. The troops were ready to get rid of Halvorson and get Adam Kinzinger elected.

April 15, we had another fantastic Tax Day Rally at the Will County Court House with incredible speakers and great media coverage. It is always amazing to see the crowds of concerned citizens standing for a united cause.

May thru August were big soldiering months. Volunteers phone banked, walked precincts, e-mailed and worked very hard for the upcoming election. In June, we held the “Freedom Walk” in Crest Hill. We targeted and walked neighborhoods for conservative candidates. We also helped collect over 2,000 signatures for Cedra Crenshaw’s state senate run. Many of you walked neighborhoods and circulated petitions for Cedra to get her on the ballot. This was an AMAZING feat and great victory. Then when the signatures were challenged, we held a protest and attended the court hearings to show our support. The truth won and Cedra was back in the race! We also attended other local tea party rallies and helped other tea parties get started. Quite a few “Conservative Committeemen” also won and impacted their precincts. Great job to all our new Committeeman!

September was another huge month for all of us. In addition to these activities, Joliet and the Will County Tea Party Alliance were one of the co-sponsors of RIGHT NATION 2010, a premiere conservative event in the Midwest. What a great event to partner with! Top notch national speakers joined keynote speaker Glenn Beck, 912ers, Tea Parties, grass roots and conservative republicans from across our state. Illinois and the Midwest made national news because of this major conservative event in Barack Obama’s home state. YEAH!

Americans For Prosperity contacted Joliet / Will County Tea Party to offer some of their election tools to the 11th CD. AFP and Joliet Tea Party held a big event “BATTLEPLAN 2010” featuring Joe the Plumber and their “November is Coming” Bus. Over 600 people showed up in downtown Joliet once again to let their voices be heard.

More great media coverage and a huge national story broke at this event as staff from Congresswoman’s Debbie Halvorson office held Nazi signs in front of the AFP/Joliet Tea Party event. They were eventually videotaped returning to her HQ.

We also partnered with AFP to make 5,000 phone banking calls in the 11th CD educating voters on Debbie Halvorson’s voting record. More precincts were targeted with issue advocacy literature across our area. Thanks to AFP for all their help in the 11th CD.
In November we also co-sponsored the “CRUNCH TIME 2010” rally in Lockport. Over 2,000 people attended this event. National personalities, Gov. Haley Barbour and Gov. Bobby Jindal attended. Local candidates Bill Brady, Jason Plummer, Adam Kinzinger, Cedra Crenshaw plus many others were highlighted

The icing on the cake for this year in our area was the candidacy of Adam Kinzinger. An unashamed Conservative and Tea Party backed candidate that won a landslide victory for Congress in the 11th District over incumbent Debbie Halvorson. Halvorson was the poster child for big government, big spending liberalism. She had voted for cap & trade, the health care bill, and other pork laden bills. Now she is gone.

Will County Tea Party Alliance confirmed that many GOP County and Township Chairmen reject GOP State Chairman Pat Brady's comment that the Tea Party movement is a "fringe movement." At a press conference held by the Will County Tea Party Alliance (Joliet Tax Day Tea Party / Homer-Lockport Tea Party). The representatives of the GOP Chairmen indicated their disappointment with the GOP establishment's support of RINO (Republican In Name Only) candidates such as Mark Kirk. They pointed out that other candidates such as Patrick Hughes (U.S. Senate candidate) are much closer to the conservative principles of The Republican Party.

Grundy Township Tea Party hosted the 11th District Congressional Candidates Forum.

All four Republican candidates (Adam Kinzinger, Henry Meers, Daryl Miller, David McAloon) participated in the event. The candidates spoke for over two hours, giving the audience a well rounded understanding as to where each of them stand on a multiple of issues from abortion to national security.

The event was also live streamed over the Internet to provide those who could not attend the opportunity to see each of the candidates before election day. The candidates agreed on most of the major issues, taking primarily conservative stances. Watch the video and decide which one of theses candidates you believe can carry your message. Five of the seven GOP governor hopefuls got in some debate prep Wednesday night at a forum in southwest suburban Homer Glen that drew what we estimated at more than 1,000 people. It was put on by the tea party groups in Will County, so it was a conservative crowd. As a result, a lot of political red meat was thrown out there. State Sen. Bill Brady of Bloomington offered fiery opening remarks and said he served with Democratic President Barack Obama in the Illinois Senate, but did not support him. That was a reference to opponent state Sen. Kirk Dillard of Hinsdale, who found himself explaining his appearance in an Obama campaign ad to the crowd. Dillard also touted his work for former Republican Gov. Jim Edgar, while Brady drew some puzzled looks when he said he'd accept campaign contributions from unions.
Transparency advocate Adam Andrzejewski of Hinsdale, a first-time candidate, was asked how he would take on Springfield when he "seems a little green." He said his business experience should count more than political experience and pledged to deal with Springfield "the way Ronald Reagan dealt with Washington, D.C."
Political pundit Dan Proft drew applause for his series of one-liners, telling fellow conservative Andrzejewski that he "no more invented (government) transparency than Al Gore invented the Internet." Proft was asked about his public relation firm's big-dollar contract with Cicero, a town not historically known for clean government. He blasted two of his opponents for "playing the guilt by association game."
DuPage County Board Chairman Bob Schillerstrom of Naperville scored points with the crowd when he talked about his fiscal stewardship, but then had to answer first on the question "Where do our rights come from?" Schillerstrom answered "from the people," and was the only candidate who didn't mention God.
Former Illinois Attorney General Jim Ryan and former Illinois Republican Chairman Andy McKenna did not attend.

Thanks to all of you that attended our event. We were told by the police that the attendance was estimated at 10,000. I80 was jammed and shut down for awhile to handle the traffic flow to the event. Joliet Area Tea Party organizer Tim Kraulidis isn't sitting back and enjoying a day basking in the delight of seeing 10,000 people turnout in New Lenox Monday morning. He's already getting the people enlisted in running for precinct committeemen -- and they could be coming to your area! He writes to his growing email list:

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We here at www.Joliettaxdayteaparty.com were so proud to have all of you at our New Lenox event. Wow, 10,000! I met so many great people. Vets, grandma’s , grandpa’s, bikers, businessmen, tradesmen, Democrats, Republicans, Independents (Happy not to meet any Marxists there). Many of you are discouraged about some of the inaccurate media coverage. Don’t be. Why does it surprise us anymore? Use it as motivation to be the source of information for others. Why should we rely on some lefty reading off of a queue card for our information anymore? Blog, E-mail, talk to each other, start a group; become a committeeman in your area.

I mentioned a program called the Conservative Precinct Committeeman Program at the event yesterday. It is an easy thing to do. Imagine being on a first-name basis with every conservative Democrat or Republican in your community (whichever you are), all of whom come to you when they have a problem, due to the fact that you have special access to their elected officials.

Imagine being able to control hundreds of votes for or against candidates throughout your community and having a special,weighted vote for or against candidates throughout the state.

There is a shockingly easy way for true "low taxes, limited government, pro-family, follow the Constitution" conservatives to get themselves into such positions of power within the Political Parties and take it back from within. It is called a "Precinct Committeeman."

If you are Republican It takes only 10 petition signatures from registered in your precinct to get yourself on the ballot, it is a volunteer position, and many Precinct Committeeman posts in the state are vacant, so you will probably be running un-opposed.

And you don't have to worry about whether or not there is a true conservative or a RINO in your precinct's seat...If you have to ask, they aren't doing their job and need to be replaced.

This is, by far, the most important thing any Tea Partier or 9/12er can be doing with their time right now. We will be holding training sessions on how to run and operate this position. Don’t be intimidated anymore. Let’s engage the system.

Once Again, Halvorson No Show At Rally.

Thank you all for attending the Rally today. It is sad that it had to come to protesting our own Congresswoman for our voices to be heard. As expected there were out of district protesters bussed in with professional pre printed signs. Many of them could not even tell us what District they were in. Gladly there was a peaceful demonstration by both sides. There were approximately 160 concerned citizens from the 11th district looking for their Congresswoman to discuss our opposition to government healthcare. Health Care Now showed up with approximately 70 people (most out of district) to show their support for government healthcare. Once again Mrs. Halvorson refused to meet with her constituents about their concerns. Her staff did make a comment that she may have a tele - conference call to discuss the issue. What is that about? We would expect a Congresswoman elected for the people, by the people would be willing to meet with her people. Guess not.

All throughout August, our members of Congress are back in town. Insurance companies and partisan attack groups are stirring up fear with false rumors about the President's plan, and it's extremely important that folks like you speak up now.

So we've cooked up an easy, powerful way for you to make a big impression: Office Visits for Health Reform.

All this week, OFA members like you will be stopping by local congressional offices to show our support for insurance reform. You can have a quick conversation with the local staff, tell your personal story, or even just drop off a customized flyer and say that reform matters to you.

We'll provide everything you need: the address, phone number, and open hours for the office, information about how the health care crisis affects your state for you to drop off (with the option of adding your personal story), and a step-by-step guide for your visit.

As you've probably seen in the news, special interest attack groups are stirring up partisan mobs with lies about health reform, and it's getting ugly. Across the country, members of Congress who support reform are being shouted down, physically assaulted, hung in effigy, and receiving death threats. We can't let extremists hijack this debate, or confuse Congress about where the people stand.

Office Visits for Health Reform are our chance to show that the vast majority of American voters know that the cost of inaction is too high to bear, and strongly support passing health reform in 2009.

Don't worry if you've never done anything like this before. The congressional staff is there to listen, and your opinion as a constituent matters a lot. And if you bring a friend, you'll have more fun and make an even greater impact.

Wherever you live, these visits matter: Many representatives are pushing hard toward reform, and they are taking a lot of heat from special interests. They deserve our thanks and need our support to continue the fight. But those who are still putting insurance companies and partisan point-scoring ahead of their constituents must know that voters are watching -- and that we expect better.

Earlier this week, the President wrote that "this is the moment our movement was built for" and asked us all to commit to join at least one event this month. This is the way to answer that call, and rise to the challenge of this moment together.

Washington Rally Information

One of the Rockford Tea Party organizers, Linda Thomas, is arranging the charter Bus Trip to Washington Dc for her group & ours. She has really done a great job investigating and arranging the trip. The bus will make a stop in the Joliet area on the way to DC to pick up our group.

Citizens Ask Rep. Halvorson For Townhall Meeting

Citizens met Sunday afternoon to request a meeting with Congresswomen Debbie Halvorson (D) 11th district. They gathered at her Joliet Illinois office to sign petitions and make a video request for her to hold a townhall meeting to discuss the healthcare bill. As of now there is no meeting scheduled to discuss this subject during the congressional recess. Debbie was invited to attend to discuss these matters with her constituents. She chose not to show. Perhaps she will change her mind. We cannot believe that a request on such an important issue would go unanswered.

President Obama held a phone interview and conference call with the Huffington Post. The Huffington Post has been often criticized for its shoddy reporting and it's left wing vitriol on it's blog sites. It is an odd choice for a President to reach out for help. Since his health care plan seems to be losing ground with most Americans he has turned to the fringe elements of "The Left" to push his extreme government takeover of the health care system. He is operating totally opposite from his campaign promises of transparency. The mere fact that he wants to ram this bill through so quickly is proof of his commitment to a government "Nanny State." Please keep calling Congress and encouraging your friends and family to do the same. If you do not know who your elected officials are, contact http://www.congress.org/. It is easy. Type in your zip code or address. Say "No" to government health care reform and no to Cap and Trade (Senate only, passed in House).

A Patriots Report

(Robert Tracy of Lockport) attended the rally against the government takeover of our health care system. It was in front of Rep. (D) Debbie Halvorson's Office in Joliet, IL. Here is his account: There were ... about 45 in attendance, with a few coming for a short period of time. Most of us carried home made signs. I carried my large American Flag that I use at the Tea Parties, waving it to the traffic on Chicago Street. This drew attention to some who stopped to read our signs, or get information about what we were protesting. A few people from the group would explain what our protest was for. Many who drove-by honked horns and we responded in kind with our vocal approval. Near 11:30 am, many of the participants began a chant, "Say no to health care reform". Needless to say, Debbie Halvorson did not make an appearance, nor invite us in for lunch or discussion. Thanks for the update Robert.

Gallup Poll: Obama's Approval Plummets

A USA Today/Gallup Poll out Tuesday morning delivers some bad news for Barack Obama.
Here are the key finding of the national poll:
By 49%-47%, those surveyed disapprove of how he is handling the economy, a turnaround from his 55%-42% approval in May. The steepest drop came from conservative and moderate Democrats.
By 50%-44%, they disapprove of how he is handling health care policy.
A 59% majority say his proposals call for too much government spending, and 52% say they call for too much expansion of government power.
Expectations of the economy's turnaround are souring a bit. In February, the average prediction for a recovery was 4.1 years; now it's 5.5 years.
The USA Today/Gallup Poll is sure undermine the President's position as he pushes for his ambitious universal health care plan.
"His ratings have certainly come back down to Earth in a very short time period," Republican pollster Whit Ayres told USA Today.
